Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao set for professional rematch in Las Vegas in September

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to renew their rivalry in a stunning rematch in Las Vegas this September.

Mayweather, 48, will officially come out of retirement to face Pacquiao at the Sphere on Saturday September 19, 11 years on from the legendary boxing duo's eagerly-awaited first fight.

Pacquiao, 47, came out of retirement on July 19 2025 when he fought Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship, the fight ending in a majority draw as the latter retained his belt.

Mayweather was victorious via unanimous decision when the pair fought on May 2 2015 in what was billed as the 'Fight of the Century'.

"I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result," said Mayweather.

It marks the second instalment of a generational rivalry the boxing world had perhaps hoped would come to fruition earlier than it finally did a decade ago.

The collision of the two icons would eventually see Mayweather extend his perfect professional record to 48 consecutive wins, which became 50-0 following victories over Andre Berto in September 2015 and the UFC's Conor McGregor in August 2017 before announcing his retirement.

He has since fought the likes of Logan Paul, Aaron Chalmers and John Gotti III in among a series of exhibition bouts, most recently against the latter in August 2024.

Pacquiao is 62-8-3 and has fought eight times as a professional since his defeat to Mayweather.

"Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history," said Pacquiao "The fans have waited long enough - they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix.

"I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record, and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines."

The first meeting had nestled among the most anticipated, long-yearned-for fights in boxing history between two sovereigns of their field, a clash lacking fireworks, though, indicative of the reality that both may have surpassed the peak of their powers.

Nonetheless, it would become the richest fight the sport has witnessed by setting records for gate (£53.1m) and pay-per-view sales (4.6m), and will once more draw the eyes of the world.

Mayweather announced plans to come out of retirement last week as he set his sights on an initial exhibition fight with Mike Tyson in April. It represents his fourth return from retirement having previously called time on his career in 2007, 2015 and 2017.
